Ancient Egyptian high class by Sanio Ancient Egyptian high class by Sanio
Finally, after 16 days of drawing I finished it!!!!!!
24 characters representing the social pyramid of ancient Egypt.
I was roughly influenced to do this huge project after I saw this picture out here

High class- it consisted of nobles who were viziers or generals and High Priest of Amun and usually his wife who was also a High priestess (probably of Hathor- Mut- or Isis).

Hope you like it, I surely do considering the amount of time I gave in this piece. I'll upload the parts of the pyramid after I finish with this!

See ya!!! :D

I've heard that ancient priests in Ethiopia often wore leopard skins.

It may be that ancient Egyptians took that type of clothing from them or did the Ethiopians from Egyptians! ;)

I don't know about high priests, but high priestesses almost never married--like Vestals, priestesses of ancient Egypt were sworn virgins. I've only seen a priestess marry in one book, but it was historical fiction and she stepped down and made someone else high priestess in her place.

Just the oposite! They could marry, both priests and priestesses and even have children! They weren't allow to have sex while tending the gods, but outside the temple they could marry and have kids. There aren't any documentations that the priesthood was virgins, maybe the ones that worked in temples of Neith, cause she was a virigin-goddess. I don't think that priestess of Hathor would have been virigins, after all they did serve to the goddess of sex, love and beauty!
